THE REENACTMENT SQUAD OF THE 99th
INFANTRY DIVISION 393rd
REGIMENT, EASY COMPANY
Our unit was founded on June 18, 1999, when six local World War II living
historians (Founding Fathers) formed the reenactment squad of the 99th Infantry
Division, 393rd Regiment, Easy Company.
Based
in Erie, Pa., our American rifle squad of reenactors educates the public on the
type of uniforms, weapons, food, and field equipment used by the common infantry
rifleman from 1941-45. We also
train with period manuals dealing in the field tactics and manual of arms of WW
II.
As a squad, we stress above-average authenticity in our time period.
Our impression has grown with the help of local veterans and the great
memories of the surviving members of the 99th Infantry Division Association.
Easy
Company also has a growing roster of period vehicles that are part of displays
and reenactments. They include a 1940 Dodge weapons carrier and a 1942 heavy
wreaker.
We
are a recognized and franchised member of the 20th Century Tactical Studies
Group Inc. This national
organization for modern reenactors was established to promote public awareness
of the sacrifices made by the common soldier of all armies during the conflicts
of the 20th Century.
Easy Co. is very active in northwestern Pennsylvania participating in parades,
living histories, public displays and combat reenactments. We have done programs
at the Pennsylvania Soldiers and Sailors Home and the Erie Air Show, and for the
Erie County Historical Society. Also,
we have participated in national combat reenactments at Fort Indiantown Gap,
Pa.; Camp Atterbury, Ind.; Bedford, Pa.; and Fort Custer, Mich. Additionally, we
have taken part in the national World War II Air Show/Reenactment weekend in
Reading, Pa., and the D-Day reenactment in Conneaut, Ohio.
